The Health Platform benefit under the Momentum Medical Scheme provides coverage for a wide range of vaccines and immunisations. These vaccines are available to members, with infant immunisations covered under all options, except the Ingwe Option.

General Vaccines

• ADACEL QUADRA PREFILL SYR 0.5M:

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and polio virus (IPV) through a single injection.

• TETRAXIM PREFILLED SYRINGE:

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and polio virus (IPV) in a pre-filled syringe format.

• BOOSTRIX TETRA PRE-FILLED:

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and polio virus (IPV) for infants.

• BCG VACCINE SSI:

  • Protection: Tuberculosis (TB), primarily for infants and young children.

• HEXAXIM PRE-FILLED SYRINGE 0.5:

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio virus (IPV), and Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIB).

• INFANRIX HEXA VAC:

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio virus (IPV), and HIB for infants.

• INFANRIX PRE-FILLED SYR:

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and hepatitis B.

• HIBERIX SGL DOSE 0.5:

  • Protection: Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIB), which can cause severe infections in children.

• ENGERIX-B PAED NEW M:

  • Protection: Hepatitis B for pediatric use.

• ENGERIX-B VACC 20UG:

  • Protection: Hepatitis B with purified antigen.

• EUVAX B VIAL 20MCG/ML:

  • Protection: Hepatitis B in a recombinant vaccine format.

• HEBERBIOVAC HB SGL D:

  • Protection: Hepatitis B with purified antigen.

• MORUPAR:

  • Protection: Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) through live attenuated viruses.

• MEASLES VACC LIFE ATTEN 0.5ML:

  • Protection: Measles, administered via injection.

• PRIORIX TETRA:

  • Protection: Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox).

• PRIORIX SGL DOSE 0.5:

  • Protection: Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) through live attenuated viruses.

• MEASBIO MULTI-DOSE POWDER VIAL:

  • Protection: Measles, via multi-dose powdered vial.

• MEASLES VACCINE CIPLA VIAL POW:

  • Protection: Measles in a powdered vial format.

• PREVENAR 13 28MCG/0.5ML PREFIL:

  • Protection: Pneumococcal infections (10-valent conjugate vaccine).

• SYNFLORIX VACCINE:

  • Protection: Pneumococcal infections and influenza virus protection.

• OPV-MERIEUX 10 DOSE:

  • Protection: Polio virus (oral solution).

• ROTARIX LIQUID ORAL VACCINE:

  • Protection: Rotavirus (liquid form).

• ROTATEQ 2ML VACCINE:

  • Protection: Rotavirus (oral form).

• TUBERCULIN RT/23 PPD:

Vaccines Under the Ingwe Option

The Ingwe Option provides coverage for infant immunisations up to R2,950 at private facilities during the first year of life. After this period, vaccinations can be obtained at Department of Health baby clinics.

• BCG Vaccine (SSI BCG Vaccine):

  • Protection: Tuberculosis (TB) for infants.

• OPV-Mérieux 20 Dose Vaccine:

  • Protection: Polio virus via live oral vaccination.

• OPV-Mérieux 10 Dose Plastic:

  • Protection: Polio virus via live oral vaccine.

• Rotarix Liquid Oral Vaccine:

  • Protection: Rotavirus, which can cause severe diarrhea in infants.

• Hexaxim Prefilled Syringe (0.5 ml):

  • Protection: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (HIB).

• Prevenar 13 (28 mcg/0.5 ml Prefilled):

  • Protection: Pneumococcal infections.

• Measbio Multi-Dose Powder Vial:

• Measles Vaccine (Cipla Vial Powder):

  • Protection: Measles (injection form).

Flu Vaccines

The following flu vaccines are covered under certain conditions:

• Influvac Tetra (Single Dose Pre):

• Vaxigrip Tetra:

  • Protection: Four strains of the flu virus.

Tetanus Vaccines

The following tetanus vaccines are available across all options:

• Tetavac Prefilled Syringe:

Pneumococcal Vaccines

Pneumococcal vaccines are generally available on all options except the Ingwe Option, subject to certain criteria:

• Pneumovax Vaccine:

  • Protection: Pneumococcal disease.

• Synflorix Vaccine:

  • Protection: Pneumococcal infections and influenza.

• Prevenar 13 (28 mcg/0.5 ml Prefilled):

  • Protection: Pneumococcal infections (also included in infant immunisations).
