Below is information about the HIV/Aids management programme
At Momentum Medical Scheme, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive management and treatment options for individuals living with HIV/Aids. Our primary objective is to ensure that our members have access to the most suitable medical care that promotes wellness, prevention, and ongoing support. We believe that with the right resources and care, individuals diagnosed with HIV/Aids can lead normal, fulfilling, and productive lives. In order to access the benefits associated with HIV/Aids treatment, members of the Momentum Medical Scheme are required to enroll in the Lifesense HIV programme.
Who needs to register? It is essential for any member who receives a positive HIV test result to enroll in the Lifesense HIV programme promptly after obtaining their results. The HIV Elisa test, which is a vital screening tool, is covered under the Health Platform Benefit. However, it is important to note that for members enrolled in the Ingwe Option, these Health Platform benefits are exclusively available through providers within the Ingwe Primary Care Network. Furthermore, it is particularly crucial for pregnant members to join the programme as soon as they become aware of their HIV status. This early registration is key to implementing measures that can help safeguard their unborn child from contracting the virus.
How to register The process of registering for the HIV programme is designed to be straightforward and confidential. We prioritize the privacy of our members, and all staff involved in managing your condition will uphold strict confidentiality. To initiate your registration on the HIV programme, either the member or their treating physician should reach out to Lifesense using the contact information provided below. Lifesense, which has been appointed by the Scheme, will take an active role in managing your health by collaborating with your healthcare providers to develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your needs. In addition to creating this plan, you will receive ongoing education, support, and access to antiretroviral (ARV) medication when deemed necessary. The Scheme will also oversee the annual limits associated with this benefit to ensure appropriate management.
Benefits for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) treatment Members who have experienced potential exposure to the HIV virus—whether through accidental means such as a needle stick injury or in the unfortunate circumstance of sexual assault—can obtain prophylactic treatment aimed at preventing infection. By contacting Lifesense, members can access this critical PEP treatment, which is designed to mitigate the risk of HIV transmission following such exposures.
