The comprehensive maternity program offered by the Momentum Medical Scheme is designed to provide members with the necessary support and high-quality care throughout their pregnancy journey and during the postpartum phase. This program emphasizes focused, quality care benefits that encompass various essential services, including antenatal visits, diagnostic scans, nurse home visits, pediatric visits, and immunizations for newborns.

How to RegisterYou may register for the maternity program starting from the eighth week of your pregnancy. There are several convenient methods to complete your registration: you can use the Momentum App, visit the official website at momentummedicalscheme.co.za, or you can reach out to us via WhatsApp or by calling 0860 11 78 59.

During the registration process, we will require you to provide specific information, including:• Your email address;• The name, surname, and practice number of your GP, gynecologist, registered midwife, or doula;• Your complete medical and surgical history, including any obstetric history; and• Your expected date of delivery.

Understanding the Maternity Program and BenefitsMomentum Medical Scheme has formed a partnership with BabyYumYum, which is recognized as South Africa's leading parenting portal. This collaboration allows us to offer extensive pre- and post-natal support to new parents who are members of the Momentum Medical Scheme. When you reach out to us to register for the maternity benefit, we will request your consent to enroll in the MyMomentum BabyYumYum program. Following your consent, BabyYumYum will send you a welcome message that includes details on how to maximize your benefits.

The maternity program provides a range of benefits, which vary depending on your chosen benefit option:

Benefits Offered in Partnership with Momentum Wellness and BabyYumYum• Gain access to up-to-date and reliable information on various topics related to parenthood through the exclusive and personalized MyMomentum BabyYumYum portal.• Receive support from a Momentum Wellness midwife who will visit your home to assist with essential tasks such as bathing, swaddling, latching, and feeding your baby. Members across all options are entitled to one nurse home visit on the day following their return from the hospital after childbirth. - If you are enrolled in the Evolve or Custom Option, you will receive an additional visit two weeks later.- For members on the Incentive, Extender, or Summit Option, a third visit will take place six weeks after the initial visit.• Enjoy the convenience of having your baby’s vaccinations administered at home by a Momentum Wellness nurse, up to six weeks old, in accordance with the Department of Health schedule, depending on your benefit option.• If you are on the Incentive, Extender, or Summit Option, you will receive a designer nappy bag filled with essential items for both mother and baby.• A voucher for a family meal will be delivered on your first night home, allowing you to settle in and focus on your family, which is also available for members on the Incentive, Extender, or Summit Option.

Antenatal VisitsFor members on the Ingwe Option, coverage includes up to seven antenatal visits, which encompass urine dipstick tests (tariff code 4188) conducted by your gynecologist, GP, or a registered midwife. Unlimited visits to your Ingwe Network GP are also available.

For those on the Evolve, Custom, Incentive, Extender, and Summit Options, coverage extends to up to twelve antenatal visits, including urine dipstick (tariff code 4188) tests at a GP, gynecologist, or registered midwife.

ScansAll options include coverage for two pregnancy scans. If you are enrolled in the Evolve, Custom, Incentive, Extender, or Summit Option, you may request your doctor to utilize tariff codes 3615 and 3617, which will allow you to access a 3D or 4D scan at the rate of a 2D scan.

Maternity CoachesYou have access to maternity coaches who are trained in midwifery and can be contacted via telephone. They are available to answer any questions you may have regarding your pregnancy, childbirth, and issues related to your newborn. If your pregnancy is classified as high-risk, your maternity coach will reach out to you regularly to provide advice, support, and encouragement throughout your journey.

Doula BenefitFor members enrolled in the Evolve, Custom, Incentive, Extender, and Summit options, you are entitled to two doula visits per pregnancy, provided that you:• Utilize a doula accredited by DOSA or WOMBS;• Your gynecologist is an Associated Specialist; and• You are planning to have a natural birth.

It is essential to authorize the doula benefit as part of your maternity benefit registration.

Audiology, Circumcision, and PhysiotherapyPlease note that audiology, circumcision, and physiotherapy services are not routinely covered, even if they are performed in a hospital setting. These services would need to be paid for from your Day-to-day benefits or HealthSaver+, if available. However, circumcision for medical reasons will be covered if pre-authorized.

Baby ImmunizationsImmunizations for your baby, in accordance with the Department of Health schedule, are covered for children up to the age of six years. If you are enrolled in the Ingwe Option, immunizations are covered at private facilities during the baby’s first year, with a total limit of R2,950. Once this limit is reached, immunizations will be available at the Department of Health baby clinics.

Pediatrician VisitsFor members on the Ingwe Options, coverage includes one visit to a pediatrician during your baby’s first year. For those on the Evolve, Custom, Incentive, Extender, and Summit Options, coverage extends to two pediatrician visits during the baby’s first year.

BellyBabies BenefitThe BellyBabies initiative is an exciting offering that provides expecting parents with expert antenatal and postnatal support. This program includes access to an online antenatal course with 50 educational videos that can be viewed from home, as well as video consultations with a lactation specialist to assist you and your baby in establishing and maintaining a successful breastfeeding routine. Members of the Momentum Medical Scheme are eligible for a discount from BellyBabies. If you have a HealthSaver+ account, you can utilize available funds to pay for this service.

Associated SpecialistsWelcoming a new baby into the family often comes with additional expenses. To assist you in minimizing out-of-pocket medical costs, Momentum Medical Scheme has established contracts with Associated Specialists, including gynecologists, pediatricians, and anesthetists. These specialists agree to charge at the rates negotiated by the Scheme, ensuring that you will not encounter rate shortfalls on these in-hospital specialist accounts. To view the specialists available in your area, please log into the Momentum App or visit momentummedicalscheme.co.za, or consult with your maternity coach.

Authorization for Your ConfinementTo obtain pre-authorization for your confinement, please email us at [e-mail], send us a WhatsApp message, or call us at 0860 11 78 59 within 30 days of your delivery date. If your hospital admission date changes, it is important to inform us within 48 hours of your admission.

Adding Your Baby to Your Momentum Medical Scheme MembershipPlease note that your baby will not be automatically added to your Momentum Medical Scheme membership. If you wish for your baby to be covered under the Scheme and to access benefits such as baby immunizations and pediatrician visits, you must complete a newborn registration form. The remainder of the first month’s contribution for your baby will be waived if you register them within 30 days of birth, and the application form must be approved by your employer if your Momentum Medical Scheme contributions are employer-paid.
